Microlensing path parametrization for Earth-like Exoplanet detection around solar mass stars
We propose a new parametrization of the impact parameter u0 and impact angle
{\alpha} for microlensing systems composed by an Earth-like Exoplanet around a
Solar mass Star at 1 AU. We present the caustic topology of such system, as
well as the related light curves generated by using such a new parametrization.
Based on the same density of points and accuracy of regular methods, we obtain
results 5 times faster for discovering Earth-like exoplanet. In this big data
revolution of photometric astronomy, our method will impact future missions
like WFIRST (NASA) and Euclid (ESA) and they data pipelines, providing a rapid
and deep detection of exoplanets for this specific class of microlensing event

Neutral heavy lepton production at next high energy linear colliders
The discovery potential for detecting new heavy Majorana and Dirac neutrinos
at some recently proposed high energy colliders is discussed. These
new particles are suggested by grand unified theories and superstring-inspired
models. For these models the production of a single heavy neutrino is shown to
be more relevant than pair production when comparing cross sections and
neutrino mass ranges.

clear separation between the signal and standard model contributions, even

Characterizing videos, audience and advertising in Youtube channels for kids
Online video services, messaging systems, games and social media services are
tremendously popular among young people and children in many countries. Most of
the digital services offered on the internet are advertising funded, which
makes advertising ubiquitous in children's everyday life. To understand the
impact of advertising-based digital services on children, we study the
collective behavior of users of YouTube for kids channels and present the
demographics of a large number of users. We collected data from 12,848 videos
from 17 channels in US and UK and 24 channels in Brazil. The channels in
English have been viewed more than 37 billion times. We also collected more
than 14 million comments made by users. Based on a combination of text-analysis
and face recognition tools, we show the presence of racial and gender biases in
our large sample of users. We also identify children actively using YouTube,
although the minimum age for using the service is 13 years in most countries.
We provide comparisons of user behavior among the three countries, which
represent large user populations in the global North and the global South
Critical Behavior of a Three-State Potts Model on a Voronoi Lattice
We use the single-histogram technique to study the critical behavior of the
three-state Potts model on a (random) Voronoi-Delaunay lattice with size
ranging from 250 to 8000 sites. We consider the effect of an exponential decay
of the interactions with the distance,, with , and
observe that this system seems to have critical exponents and
which are different from the respective exponents of the three-state Potts
model on a regular square lattice. However, the ratio remains
